Car Safety for Your Holiday Travels

Holiday travel is a tradition many of us embrace in the coming weeks. Planning for road trips can make the journey smoother, more enjoyable, and safer for everyone on board.

To help you prepare, we've compiled checklists we rely on before hitting the road. Many stores also offer car safety and first aid kits, including many items from our lists.

A paper note with checks and lines.

Car Check Before Your Holiday Travels

  1. Check the oil - when was the last time you had an oil change

  2. Check the tire pressures. For most cars, the pressure is usually 35 - 40 psi, but if you are unsure, it is best to consult your owner's manual

  3. Clean your windshield inside and out

  4. Make sure you have enough windshield wiper fluid, and if you are traveling to where it is cold, have the fluid that is rated for cold weather and a can of de-icer

  5. If you are a member of an automobile service, do you have your card or app up-to- date

  6. Have any bottles of fluid you know are leaking and might need to be replaced during your trip
