Tuesday Tea Time: Apple Pie in a Cup
The changing leaves and cool weather mean it’s time to try other tea flavors. Nothing says fall quite like apple pie. If you're looking for a family-friendly activity-turned-drink, follow the recipe below for Apple Pie in a Cup.

Fall is the perfect time for apple picking. The sun is shining, the apples are crisp, and the temperature is perfect for a nice sweater and jeans.

Make the Perfect Tea for Tea Time
Step 1 in Tea Time
To add to the fun of making this recipe, you could visit an apple orchard near you and pick some fresh apples! Look for apples such as Fuji, Red or Golden Delicious, Gala, Braeburn, or Honeycrisps for a sweet tea. These apples will help naturally sweeten the tea. If you can't get to the orchard you can buy the apples at your local grocery store.
Step 2 in Tea Time
Wash and peel five of the freshly picked apples. Save the peels and cores for step three, making the tea. Finish cutting up the apples and enjoy. If you want a garnish, save a few slices for your tea. Measure the peels and cores when you are done.

Step 3 in Tea Time
Put the peels and the same amount of water in a pan and bring to a boil. Once it has boiled, turn it down to simmer for approximately one hour. If you are using red apples, the water will turn a nice apple cider color.

Step 4 in Tea Time
During the last 15 minutes of cooking, add spices. Experiment with your favorite flavors, such as cardamom pods, cloves, a cinnamon stick, star anise, or ginger root. When done, strain the apple tea and enjoy it hot or cold. If you like it sweeter, you can add some honey or stevia drops. Store any leftover tea in the refrigerator.
Nothing captures the essence of fall like apples and spices. Let us know what spices you used to create the best cup of tea.
Enjoy your tea time!
